How to replace
radiatorsby own?
It is a fact that replacing radiators is a tough task and an expert mechanic is the best person to do this work. But it is also not too difficult when it comes to DIY replacement of a car radiator. You can replace these critical but essential parts of car’s engines by own by following some simple steps.
- Park your car in a safe place and make sure engine is completely cool.
- See if the radiator cap is still warm or it is cold enough to open
- Switch off the ignition, so disconnect battery
- If there are some rusty fluids in the radiator, flush off the same
- Now is the step for removing the radiator
- If your car has an electric cooling fan, disconnect the connector of the fan to unbolt and remove it. While removing the fan note how it assembles
- Now you have to disconnect the hoses from the car radiator. While disconnecting check whether the hoses are okay or are worn out, cracked and have bulges. If so, also replace them
- Next you need to disconnect the cooling lines of transmission. While you disconnect ensure you are not bending the lines
- Now you need to remove brackets, clamps or screws which hold the radiator
- Finally you are lifting up the radiator out of your car
- Next step is to install the new radiator. Follow the same steps which you followed to take it out of the car but this time of course in reverse order
- After completing all the steps fill it with fluids and also check that there are no leakages
